You Are Allowed to Become Someone New

Hi friend,

One of the strangest parts of healing is realizing that not everyone will recognize the newer version of you.

Some people only know the version that apologized too much.

The version that stayed quiet.

The version that always said yes.

The version that accepted less than they deserved.

When you change, those people may act like you've become someone else.

Maybe you have.

And maybe that's okay.

You aren't betraying your past self.

You're honoring them.

That earlier version of you did the best they could with what they knew.

This version knows a little more.

She knows that boundaries are kindness.

That rest isn't laziness.

That being alone is often healthier than forcing yourself to belong somewhere you don't fit.

Growth isn't about becoming perfect.

It's about becoming more honest.

More peaceful.

More yourself.

If someone says you've changed...

Smile.

You were supposed to.

A gentle prompt

Take a few quiet minutes this week to think about who you were a year ago.

What have you learned?

What no longer feels true?

What do you value now that you didn't before?

You don't have to become someone entirely new.

Sometimes growth is simply giving yourself permission to be more of who you've been all along.

Before I go...

Change has a way of feeling uncomfortable while we're living it and obvious once we've lived through it.

If this season feels unfamiliar, it doesn't mean you're lost.

It may just mean you're growing into a version of yourself that your past couldn't have imagined.

Wherever you are today, I hope you meet yourself with a little more compassion than criticism.

You're allowed to evolve.

Until next Sunday,

Bex
